I learned about sexually transmitted diseases in one of my health classes in high school. Even armed with the information that I needed to make sure that I did not contract one, I still felt I was invincible. I didn’t purposely go around thinking that, but I still took stupid chances because I thought that it could not happen to me. The bad news is that it did. When I started feeling sick, I went to the doctor expecting a diagnosis of the flu. Instead, I left wondering how to get rid of herpes.
My doctor ran some tests, and the blood work came back that I was infected with herpes. I didn’t understand the severity of it until he told me that there is no cure for it.
